How Much 2025 Land Rover Defender Octa Cost? Engine Upgrade With The Latest Technology From BMW

--

VOLKPOP.co - The Land Rover Defender family has a new addition, and it's the most powerful and fastest model ever to wear the Defender badge. It's called the OCTA and has been unveiled ahead of its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next weekend. The 2025 Land Rover Defender OCTA, this top-of-the-line variant features a new engine, numerous off-road upgrades and improved visual elements inside and out that attempt to justify its significantly higher starting price of $153,475.

The name OCTA refers to the octahedron shape of a diamond, and Land Rover is trying to create hype for this model by only offering 300 units - at least initially. We expect production to eventually increase beyond that, or at least that a similar V-8 model will be offered in the future, but early buyers will be able to opt for a special Edition One package with visual customizations. This version, starting at an even more expensive price of $169,275, will feature green interior and carbon trim along with special 20-inch wheels. A matte wrap will be optional.

The headline of the new Defender OCTA is its powertrain. While the current Defender V8 uses a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, the OCTA uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 and mild hybrid technology from BMW. It produces 626 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm), but torque increases to 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) when launch control is engaged.

On a straight stretch, the insane 4×4 takes just 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) or 4.0 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h), making it arguably the fastest Defender ever. But the Defender has never really been about blistering performance on the road, instead becoming an icon for its ruggedness and off-road ability. Land Rover hasn't forgotten that with OCTA.
